3-N Leviton dimmer switches generally hot?

I just installed a new Dimmer Leviton 3-way and seems to be hot. There something wrong with a dimmer or normal? My wife is very nervous when it comes to fires.

A little heat is normal. However, you must be sure that regulatory switch is not overloaded. The small controller switch is rated at 600 watts. This means that the transition from lighting controls must be less than 600 watts. To determine this together with the knowledge of all the bulbs in lamps of this parameter is clouded. If less than 600 watts, so good. If it is 600 watts or more, or need a 1000 watt dimmer or more bulbs or install less energy to the load below 600 watts.
