Is there an adapter to plug NEMA 6-20 to 6-30 a container? Can I replace the outlet with a 6-20R?

I bought an air – conditioning has a NEMA 6-20. However, the closest to a wall outlet NEMA 6-30 receptacle. Is there an adapter that can be used to connect the 6-20P in 6-30R? Is it safe to do? Otherwise, a May replace the production of 6-30R with a 6-20R output using the same gauge wire that was used with 6-30R output? Is it safe and do not conform to code? Please advise. Thank you!

Adapter: This is the right direction (bottom current device in the receptacle higher current) and an adapter would be helpful if you could find one. I've never seen! I poke and editing I found anywhere. Output: Yes, you can certainly install a container of 6-20 instead of 6-30 as container does not guarantee nothing will ever reverse the current maximum which is connected to the box. In essence, you have a heavier gauge (safer) metal container calls 6-20. If it were me, I would change the plug at the end of the air conditioner for 6-30. Heck of a lot easier, and it is also acceptable A / C do not pull more current 6.20. An exception – If A / C is really new and purchased in the United States, have a detection of leakage current and specific interrupt (LCDI) plug. The cables are fine metal mesh around the conductors and circuitry to detect any leakage of current pilots to the mesh, what if the cable is damaged or frayed. You'll find a trial and the RESET button on the sheet. If you have that, then I understand why you would not try in this case, I share the wall 6.30 of a 6-20. In summary, all submissions will go on the right track in terms of code and safety, but I never saw the damn adapter. Anyone else? Edit 1: To the posters below – Unless someone has really screwed the dog in the house wiring of receptacles, the original poster should not be the measure of tension in the container. The two points 6-20 and 6-30 are supposed to be used for 220, 110V NEVER! Edit 2: There is certainly nothing malfunction that requires a larger gauge cable to 6-20. Feeling I'm thinking about using the switch 30A in the industry, however. 6-20 receptacle automatically limits what can be connected to the reservoir from 6-20 can really handle a higher current (design sought to limit what is connected), I see the problem with NEC in it, either. Edition 3 "plug connected equipment does not generally an internal circuit breaker or fuse. Although often the case, it is not these days – air conditioners. I was joking not find a plug in an air conditioner LCDI those days. The requirement was included in the 2002 NEC, UL has begun to ask in 2004, and are present ..

Very few of us pay more attention, though unfortunately we depend on them to function properly on a daily basis. We're at a point some of the technological advances that can be almost paralyzed by a power outage only – electricity became, of course, our God in silence. Of course, this god is equally silent prophets should be the receptacle box or receptacle outlets – also known as wall outlets. Without these outlets to receive our electronic devices and appliances, would not be able to get on our computers, turn on our lights, or watch television for news that we needed.

Many things that are important to us, we were given by electricity, because electricity can be so powerful, it is imperative to moderate some of our frequent interaction with him. Precisely what the boxes containers are for – to effectively regulate the amount of electricity passing through a device or gadget via the socket so it will absorb the excess electricity. For this to happen, the wiring inside the box to do, to do exactly. Otherwise, the box container is defective and equipment will be either too much or too little electricity. The first is simply frustrating, of course, but they can be potentially fatal.

Knowing this, we should be able to handle the box containing a little more respect, of course, we are not expected to pay attention to them all the time, but we should at least try to remember that without them we probably will not be able to assess things we enjoy today.
